Dantotsu ramen moved two doors down the same street and the good taste followed along. Dantotsu is my guilty pleasure and I was glad to see it in a brand new location. This is my second review, you can read the original here.
I recently complained online about the relative homogeneity of the Indian food scene in Okayama and somebody pointed me toward Spicy Spice. I’m glad they directed my attention to this small South Indian restaurant located near the Okayama City Hall.
In my quest for the best curry in Okayama, I recently ended up visiting Quiet Village Curry Shop after it was recommended to me by a coworker. The funny this is that I have been walking in front of the shop for almost 10 years and I am kicking myself for not trying it earlier.
Eating eggs in Japan can leave the most adventurous eater shocked and scared. I arrived in Japan in 2008 and I can still remember looking in disbelief at somebody cracking a fresh egg into a bowl and dipping sukiyaki into it. I was open minded, but eating raw egg was pushing it. Takata Sairan specializes in serving raw egg over rice which is commonly know as tamago kake gohan. Oh yes, I overcame my initial reaction… it’s delicious.
Nap Village and the & Things cafe are located in Kibichuo on the narrow road 484. I recently ended up in Kibichuo to pick up some blueberries and buy some cheese at the famous Yoshida farm. When it came to eat lunch, I remembered that & Things was no far from Yoshida farm.
Negi ramen or ネギラーメン is a busy ramen shop located near Higashi-Okayama station. I visited the shop twice in the last 2 weeks and it’s a busy place. Like the name implies, they serve ramen with a lot of negi ( Japanese leek) and green onion.
Nan House is a tiny Nepali/Indian restaurant located in the Nakaicho area under the shinkansen tracks between the Tsuyama line and the Sanyo line. I’ve been there twice for dinner and I was surprised by the taste of their curry.
